Running in downtown Toronto, and Air Pollution
Many people chose to running around the downtown Toronto area in order to keep in good health. But according to Connie Choy, air quality coordinator for the Lung Association Ontario; it is a source of worry as air pollution has been linked to hospital admissions and premature deaths. Studies connect air pollution to a list of ailments including appendicitis, cardiovascular disease, increased respiratory illness in children and also weigh gain.
One study suggests that air pollution affects changes in heart rate in cyclists after a stint through traffic and other studies link long-term exposure to air pollution to diabetes.
